Ivar the Warrior

About Ivar

Our sweet boy Ivar is a Trisomy 18 warrior, which means God blessed him with an extra 18th chromosome. This blog will serve as a place to share our journey through Ivar’s life limiting diagnosis. If his life is short on Earth, we understand it means he has a greater purpose in heaven. Though we wish and hope we will stay here with us, we find strength in knowing he was made perfectly, and is coming to Earth exactly the way God intended. We find peace in knowing families can be together forever through Heavenly Father’s plan.

Protector and Warrior

Ivar is named after the famous viking “Ivar the Boneless” who was born with a severe disability. His parents gave him a chance at life and he overcame multiple obstacles to become a badass, fearless warrior and leader of Scandinavia. He was an underdog but didn’t let his disability define him. Ivar also carries the meaning “protector” and “warrior”, which is perfectly fitting for our little man.

Words of Wisdom

“

When we are grateful to God in our circumstances, we can experience gentle peace in the midst of tribulation. In grief, we can still lift up our hearts in praise. In pain, we can glory in Christ's atonement. In the cold of bitter sorrow, we can experience the closeness and warmth of heaven's embrace.

There are no true endings, only everlasting beginnings.
DIETER F. UCHTDORF churchofjesuschrist.org
So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy… I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Jesus Christ John 16:22, 33
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
For if there is faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them; he showed not himself until after their faith.
Ether 12:12
